About Ryan J. Clark

Ryan J. Clark is an experienced criminal defense trial lawyer who specializes in proactive defense strategies that bring outstanding results for his clients.  Since coming to Clark & Clark, L.L.C. he has tried a number of cases, including a homicide, and has won acquittals in both superior and municipal courts.  Mr. Clark has also successfully sought the suppression of evidence in a number of criminal cases in both superior and municipal courts, resulting in outright dismissals of the charges.  He has handled numerous domestic violence restraining order cases and companion domestic violence criminal charges, litigating dismissals of restraining orders and charges against clients who were the defendant, and litigating the issuance of final restraining orders to the benefit of clients who were the plaintiff.  In numerous other cases Mr. Clark, employing a number of pro-active investigative techniques, has obtained evidence that has exonerated his clients resulting in the dismissal of serious felony charges.

As with the other partners in the firm, Mr. Clark draws on his extensive experience as both a criminal defense attorney and his experience as a prosecutor for the District Attorney of Queens County in New York City.  As an Assistant District Attorney he handled thousands of misdemeanor cases, trying a number of them, including crimes for bias harassment, DWI/DUI, serious traffic violations, simple assault, and violations of restraining orders.

After his work on misdemeanor cases Mr. Clark was promoted to the Major Crimes Career Criminal Bureau as a riding ADA where he worked hand in hand with the NYPD on hundreds of investigations which included crimes for murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, gun possession, drug possession, armed robbery, pattern robberies, bank robberies, commercial burglaries, residential burglaries, gang assault, felony assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and domestic violence. His duties as a rider also included advising the NYPD on search and seizure issues and drafting search warrants.  It was here he was provided with a unique window into what the police do and don’t do in an investigation, and where the flaws in a prosecutor’s case are likely going to arise.

Mr. Clark completed his career as a prosecutor in a felony trial bureau where he handled more than a thousand felonies.  While there he successfully tried a number of cases including crimes for aggravated assault, burglary, armed robbery, gun possession, and DUI/DWI.  His trial experience included directing and cross examining expert witnesses in areas including blood to breath alcohol measuring instruments, and the reliability of witness memory in the area of identification.

Mr. Clark left the District Attorney’s Office in August of 2010 to partner with his brother and sister-in law, Charles F. Clark Jr. and Susan Schroeder Clark, who themselves are accomplished defense attorneys and former Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutors.

If you have been charged with a crime or similar type offense (DUI/DWI), let Mr. Clark’s unique experience on both sides of the law work for you.  Using his extensive experience and proactive approach to criminal defense he will obtain the best possible negotiated resolution with the prosecutor, or identify your strongest defense and aggressively protect your rights though litigation, whether that be at fact finding hearing, suppression hearing, or at a trial where he will tenaciously fight for your acquittal.
